Empowerment for Women
Pathway to Empowerment and Fitness™ was founded by Antarius Aldridge out of a desire to help women who had been victims of rape or other abuse. Over the course of his martial arts career, Antarius saw firsthand how the emotional scars of abuse could last long after the physical ones had healed. He wanted to help these women to be able to move forward in their lives without having to continue feeling like victims. So he developed a system that combined proven self-defense techniques with mental and emotional rehabilitation.
Empowerment for Children and Teens
Building on our passion to prevent bullying and abuse, we also offer programs for children and teens to help improve self-esteem and awareness. Prevention starts not with a child’s ability to engage a bully physically, but with their ability to identify and then either avoid or diffuse conflict.
Training in the martial arts helps to build confidence in children and teens and it is this confidence that will make them less vulnerable to bullies and predators. Physical engagement is to be used only as a last resort – but learning proper techniques is critical should their use ever be required.
Training children and teens at an early age can help to prevent them from becoming victims as adults.
Empowerment for Adults
The final piece of the puzzle is mentorship programs for young men and women. These programs aim to promote self-confidence and fitness through the martial arts.
Young men learn self-confidence and self-respect. They learn that real men are not abusers, and that real men stand up for the abused.
Young women learn how to avoid being victims themselves and also about what they can do to prevent others from being abused.
When men and women have a healthy respect for themselves and the knowledge to protect themselves if necessary, they’ll be more likely to stand up for others. Whether this takes the form of intervening in a case of child or teen bullying or in the case of a woman who is being abused, respect for self and care for others are two of our core values.
